bb-(3).jpgAs far as passions go, football was definitely high on his list; however he reluctantly succumbed to the allure of golf when Dr. Alfred Nee Quaye, (himself an avid golfer) persuaded him to take up the sport.

His history makes compelling reading, when you consider he started as a caddy in 1971, quickly rising through the ranks to become Caddy Master at the Achimota Golf Club for about 9 years following which he decided to turn pro.

This transformed his fortunes and his perspective of the world at large, he was fortunate to have participated during the 90’s in wide ranging tournaments held in Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast to name but a few…he won his fair share, however he has never managed to secure the No. 1 spot in Ghana.

It seemed that his desire and zest for the game was lost, when he stopped competing in 2011, fortunately he experienced a renaissance culminating with his triumph at The Quest Inaugural Tournament, winning the ‘founders cup’ by four strokes.

This has catapulted him tobbb.jpg No.1 on the David Abaloo ranking;

The cynics amongst us might question whether he can repeat this feat again, since he had home advantage because the tournament was played at his home club on the 17th – 20th September 2013.

Interestingly, Brave, as he is affectionately known, did proclaim “…I will beat them all…” before the tournament commenced and it seemed his prophecy was fulfilled, thus demonstrating a new found confidence that will be difficult to shake.

However, we will have to wait and see how he fares in Kumasi, where ‘The Kofi Esson Cup’ will be severely contested on the 30th January – 2nd February 2014.
