Quest Tour Seasons - Kofi Esson Cup
The Quest Tour

Written by Tom Kennedy, The Director of Golf, Ghana

The Quest 2014 Tour Season began with the playing of the Kofi Esson Cup at the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi, from Thursday 30th January to Sunday 2nd February. The tournament brought together the very best professionals from around Ghana and it was hotly contested for the entire week, so much that that there was a tie for first place between Vincent Torgah and Kwame Korsah at the end of 72 holes. They both returned a score of 296 for 4 rounds so a playoff then ensued over 3 holes, on 16, 17 & 18, to decide the winner.

Kwame Korsah fell one shot behind after 2 holes of the play-off and when Vincent hit the 18th green in regulation Kwame needed to hole his 8 foot put with a left-to-right break to bring the play-off into sudden death. Unfortunately the putt did not drop and when all was said and done Torgah had won the play-off by a solitary shot. In very sporting fashion Korsah walked to the champion elect and shook his hand in congratulations.

Vincent Torgah is the 2014 Maiden Champion and the winner of the Kofi Esson Cup. The next tournament on the Quest Tour 2014 is at Tafo, on the Cocoa Research Institute’s lush course, from Thursday 6th – Sunday 9th March.
